Rafael J. Rodriguez

Rafael J. Rodriguez’s most recent works are collages made up of cut-up chips of commercial paint. He has been constructing atmospheric abstract fields of vision that only, after close examination, reveal the geometric structures of component parts. Rafael leaves out all type of narrative from his work, as he wants his piece(s) to have visual impact. His work is comprised of a geometric structure, which shows evidence and presence of human gesture. His work also utilizes the richness of colors used by visual optical artists. The geometric modules creates a double visual reading that determines the effect of kinetic illusion. His work combines the absolute control of the structure with the visual flow of color. The appearance of his work is that of a rich, vibrating surface, which only upon close examination is similar to a highly pixilated computerized image.
